Akeil Hosein of Fatima College starred in the semi finals

For the second time in 2010, Hillview College defeated El Dorado Secondary yesterday in the PowerGen Secondary Schools Cricket League, this time to book their spot in the InterCol final.

Fatima College will be Hillview’s final opponents, after knocking out San Fernando Central by ten runs.

At the Buggy Haynes Ground in Tacarigua, Hillview ended level with El Dorado on 155 runs, chasing victory in the 30-over competition.

Hillview lost six wickets on the way, but won on the basis of less wickets lost as El Dorado were bowled out batting first.

Ewart Nicholson led the way with the bat after Hillview inserted ’El Do’, making 62 runs, while Yannic Cariah (23 runs) and Namir Sue Paul (20) contributed to the cause as well.

For Hillview, off-spinner Idrees Mohammed and Anthony Simmons did the damage, both taking three for 17, and Shaquille Alex chipped in with two wickets.

Hillview’s batting attempt went down to the last ball despite Duane Coburn’s 67, while Alex chipped in with 37. Kern Matheson, Aaron Alfred and Sue Paul each took one wicket.

Fatima got to 126 for seven at Syne Village, after the rain-affected match was reduced to 20 overs, mainly due to Akeil Hosein’s 51. Marcelle Jones was stingy for Fatima, taking three wickets for eight runs, and Stephan Beharry also snared one scalp.

Sando got to 116 for eight before their overs ran out, Emmanuel Lett hitting 60 of those runs. Hosein completed an all-round performance with three wickets, as did Nicholas Brown.
