The 2009 Secondary Schools Football season officially closed at the Rudranath Capildeo Learning Resource Centre in Couva when teams and players were recognized and rewarded for their exploits on the field of play.
Undoubtedly, the biggest award of the night was that of Player of the year, and it came as no surprise to many that this was awarded to Jevaughn Vance of St. Augustine Secondary.
Vance, the talsimanic midfielder and captain of team of the year St. Augustine Secondary, grabbed many of the news headlines with his incisive passing and propensity for scoring goals (9 in the league) just when his team needed it.
In an exclusive interview with SchoolSportCentre, Vance attributed much of his personal success to the work of his teammates and coach Michael Grayson.
Although unwillingly to commit to what exactly his plans are after the season, Vance did indicate that furthering his academic and footballing career at a University in the United States would be his preference.
Congratulations to the 2009 Boys SSFL player of the year - Jevaughn Vance.
