'Pres' crowned Coca-Cola South Zone Intercol Champions

'Pres' crowned Coca-Cola South Zone Intercol Champions: Pres 1 (5) - 1 (4) Naparima

Presentation College San Fernando complete the double in South, defeating their eternal rivals Naparima College by 5-4 on penalty kicks after the game was tied 1-1 at the end of regulation time.

It was a huge success for coach, Shawn Cooper, to finally replicate the type of success he had enjoyed for many seasons at Naparima College before making the switch to take charge of his alma mata.

It was a tight encounter between the two teams with both goals in regulation time also being penalties.

Presentation's Rodney Young opened the scoring in the first half when he scored from the penalty spot after Tristan Khan was adjudged to have been fouled in the Naparima goal area.

It was then Naparima's turn to earn a penalty when Shahdon Winchester was hauled down en route to goal in the 2nd half, and Dwayne Edwards stepped up and slotted home from the spot.

Coach Cooper, sensing that the penalty kicks was imminent, made a tactical switch three minutes from the end of regualtion.

The wily coooper swapped goalkeepers and brought on his specialty shot stopper, Terrence Ramsaroop.

The move certainly paid dividends, as Ramsaroop came up big in the penalty shoot out to help Presentation College San Fernando claim their second title of the season.

'Pres' will face the runner up in the East Zone final in the National Intercol Quarterfinal, while Naparima College will meet the winner of the North Zone Intercol final.
